Skinny pig? Hairless rat... or some new mutant?

This oddity was spotted outside a Seattle office block and has been the subject of some fevered speculation as to what it might be. Most likely explanation is that it's a domestic hairless rat that has either been abandoned or escaped, which is a little sad as it wouldn't survive for long on its own. Link

That is a squirrel with the mange. I have them running all over at my house.
If the weather turns cold they usually freeze to death.

It's definitely a rodent of some sort - It's probably a squirrel but there's no tail visible, although it might have lost it - are there some kind of ground squirrel or Prairie dog in Seattle with short tails?

Kind of looks like a "hairless" Mountain Beaver to me, poor little guy... Check it out - http://www.washington.edu/burkemuseum/collections/mammalogy/mamwash/apru.html

I couldn't understand some parts of this article, but it sounds interesting

I used to breed hairless rats, and I can tell you from experience that is just what this looks like, a hairless rat eating something it found tasty
